MacKellar is looking for experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters / Plant Mechanics to join our established maintenance team at Middlemount Mine.

This is a permanent opportunity for tradespeople who want more than their next swing — with a stable project, modern equipment, a strong maintenance team and plenty of opportunity to grow with a leading Australian mining contractor.

The Opportunity

You'll be part of a dedicated maintenance crew responsible for keeping a large fleet of heavy mining equipment safe, reliable and ready for production.

Your role will cover a broad range of maintenance activities, including:

• Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and breakdowns
• Component change-outs, repairs and rebuilds
• Major maintenance and corrective repairs
• Equipment inspections and fault identification
• Completing work orders and maintenance records
• Working closely with operators, supervisors and fellow trades
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work area

You'll have the opportunity to work across a well-maintained fleet while developing your skills within a long-term operation.

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for a qualified tradesperson with strong heavy mobile equipment experience and a practical approach to maintenance.
You'll need:

• Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic trade qualification
• Previous experience working on heavy earthmoving or mining equipment
• Strong mechanical diagnostics and fault-finding capability
• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtain
• Current Queensland Driver Licence
• A strong commitment to safety and working as part of a team
