About the role
About KOMEYUI
KOMEYUI Melbourne is a premium Japanese restaurant in Southbank, offering omakase and seasonal Japanese cuisine grounded in precision, warm hospitality and respect for Japanese culinary craft.
We value calm service, consistent standards, teamwork and a professional environment where people can continue developing their hospitality careers.
The Opportunity
We are seeking two hands-on **Front of House Supervisors** to help lead daily restaurant service. This is a Supervisor position at commencement, with a structured opportunity to develop towards an Assistant Manager role as capability and responsibility grow.
The successful candidates will be confident leading a service, supporting the FOH team and maintaining a composed, thoughtful guest experience. This is an operational leadership role: you will remain present on the floor and work closely with the kitchen throughout service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead FOH service during rostered lunch and dinner shifts.
- Conduct clear pre-service briefings and communicate daily priorities.
- Coordinate table flow, service timing and communication with the kitchen.
- Support, guide and train FOH team members during service.
- Monitor presentation, cleanliness, RSA and service standards.
- Respond professionally to guest concerns and escalate significant matters appropriately.
- Support opening, handover and closing procedures as rostered.
- Contribute practical feedback to improve service consistency and team capability.
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising restaurant service.
- Strong knowledge of professional food and beverage service.
- Calm judgement and clear communication during busy services.
- A valid Victorian RSA certificate.
- Availability across Tuesday to Sunday, including lunch, dinner, weekends and split shifts.
- Current Australian work rights that allow you to perform the required hours.
- A genuine interest in Japanese hospitality and continuous learning.
Experience in premium or fine-dining service, Japanese cuisine, wine or sake is welcomed but not essential where strong supervisory capability can be demonstrated.
Roster
You will generally be rostered for approximately four days per week across lunch, dinner and split shifts. We aim to provide a consistent roster wherever possible; however, shifts may vary to accommodate planned leave and operational requirements.
KOMEYUI Melbourne trades Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Monday.
Pay and Benefits
- From **A$31.30 per hour** for full-time and part-time employees.
- Applicable penalty rates and allowances under the Restaurant Industry Award 2020 (MA000119).
- Staff meals provided.
- A stable, professional working environment.
- Practical leadership development and an Assistant Manager pathway.
- Opportunity to deepen knowledge of Japanese food, beverage and hospitality.
- Southbank location close to public transport.
How to Apply
Apply through Indeed with your resume. A cover letter is optional; however, you are welcome to briefly explain your experience leading restaurant service and why you are interested in developing with KOMEYUI.
