JOHNEX Explosives is a 100% Australian-owned manufacturer and distributor of high-quality, innovative explosives. As we continue to grow, our Belmont-based head office is seeking a motivated and highly organised Logistics and Compliance Officer to join our Commercial Team.

About the role

This position requires a logistics professional with demonstrated practical experience in heavy vehicle allocation, route planning and load planning.

The successful applicant will be confident coordinating transport activities across Australia while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, accuracy and stakeholder communication.

Reporting to the Compliance and Supply Chain Advisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of our logistics and transport activities. Working closely with drivers, suppliers and internal teams, you will allocate vehicles and resources, develop compliant transport routes, prepare and review load plans, support freight coordination, maintain transport records and contribute to the safe and efficient movement of Restricted Access Vehicles (RAVs). The role supports heavy vehicle operations throughout Western Australia under Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) requirements, as well as interstate operations under the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) framework.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review heavy vehicle journey plans for different HV (RAV) combinations

• Review load plan tools so drivers can ensure safe loading, vehicle suitability, operational efficiency and compliance

• Monitor transport operations and adjust vehicle allocations, routes or load arrangements when operational requirements change

• Support our own RAV movements in Western Australia and interstate

• Prepare records and supporting documentation for heavy vehicle audits

• Oversee accurate logistics, transport and compliance records

• Communicate effectively with drivers, suppliers and internal stakeholders

• Provide general support across compliance and supply chain operations

• Undertake other duties relevant to the position

About you

• Practical experience allocating heavy vehicles in an operational transport or logistics environment

• Practical experience developing heavy vehicle routes and journey plans

• Practical experience preparing and reviewing load plans

• An understanding of the operational and compliance considerations associated with vehicle suitability, route selection, load planning and transport scheduling

• Working knowledge of Western Australian and national heavy vehicle regulatory requirements

• Strong organisational, planning and multitasking abilities

• The ability to manage changing operational priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication and internal customer service skills

• High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook

• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Experience with PBS and using HVS & NHVR planning tools will be highly regarded
