Financial Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports and cashflow statements

·         Managing the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations

·         Completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules

·         Weekly cash flow reporting

·         Managing foreign currency payments (if required)

·         Preparation of GST, FBT, payroll and corporate income tax returns

·         Assisting in the preparation of end of year statutory accounts

·         Assisting with budgeting and forecasting

·         Ensuring accounting standards and policies are adhered to

·         Reporting consolidated results at Group level

·         Internal reporting for global entities (where required)

·         Liaison with external auditors, bank managers and tax specialists

·         Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement activities

·         Proactively identify new initiatives that could benefit the organisation

·          

General:

·         Comply with all company policies, procedures, processes and programs

·         Report all incidents, near misses and hazards (including environmental)

·         Ensure their own health and safety while at work and the health and safety of others as far as reasonably practicable 

·         Participate in WHSE training and development as required

·         Wear appropriate and correctly fitted PPE when required

·         Undertake specific job-related WHSE responsibilities as outlined in the Integrated Management System and operational procedures

Requirements and Qualifications

·           Degree qualified in Accountancy, Finance or related field

·           Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in accounting

·           Experience in a Charted Accounting firm advantageous

·           Strong commercial and business acumen

·           Process and deadline driven with a sharp eye for detail

·           Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

·           Strong negotiator who can develop ongoing working relationships

·           Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·           Ability to perform data and statistical analysis to identify trends and anomalies

·           Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other financial software and tools for reporting and analysis purposes

·           Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA
