Project Director

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Project Director to join our Carey Group growing team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished project professional who can lead complex civil construction projects from planning and mobilisation through to successful completion.

The Project Director will have overall responsibility for project delivery, commercial performance, client relationships, safety, quality, resources and project outcomes.

 About the Role:

 As Project Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across major projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

You will work closely with senior management, project teams, clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders to drive project performance and achieve successful outcomes.

 Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide overall leadership and direction for our current and upcoming civil projects.

• Take accountability for project delivery, financial performance and commercial outcomes.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

• Lead project planning, mobilisation, execution and close-out activities.

• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, variations and commercial performance.

• Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and contractual issues.

• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements.

• Provide leadership across project management, engineering and support teams.

• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements.

• Oversee procurement, subcontractor management, resource planning and project logistics.

• Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where required.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.

• Support business development and future project opportunities.

 About You:

We are looking for a proven project leader with significant experience delivering construction projects. 

You will ideally have:

• Extensive experience in senior project management or project director roles in the Construction industry.

• Demonstrated experience delivering marine, civil or infrastructure projects.

• Strong commercial and financial management capability.

• Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, project controls and contract management.

• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and major subcontractors.

• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.

• Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements within the construction industry.

• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
