About the role
About the role:
We are looking for efficient, safety-minded Production Chemist for our industrial chemical waste facility. We have long-term work available for experienced chemists with a forklift license at our Laverton site.
The Ideal Candidate:
You will be able to apply your chemical knowledge and skills to identify waste chemicals to ensure they can be decanted and treated through our neutralisation plant.
You will be responsible for setting up the day-to-day batches and running them through the neutraliser and the treatment tanks. Please note that this will require a hands-on approach working alongside other operators.
Must be capable of working with minimal oversight and willing to follow directions closely to deliver the production schedule on time and ensure treatment meets company specifications.
There may also be times when you will need to support the operations staff to decant, weigh and handle the waste.
Applicants with Chemistry background or experience within the waste industry is highly regarded.
Responsibilities and Duties: Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of facilities that handle, process, and dispose of various types of waste materials. The duties and responsibilities include:
Setting up batches to be treated through the neutraliser in conjunction with the lab chemists.
Operate the neutraliser along with the general operators as per the production schedule
Be pro-active in organising work & ensure that it is performed according to a priority list.
Reporting of operational and maintenance issues
Promote a positive and collaborative team culture
Closely interact with the laboratory team and Maintenance within the organisation
This role may include customer site visits, visits to other Evoro sites
Follow Standard Operating Procedures and specified test methods. Any deviation must be approved by management before implementation.
Follow housekeeping standards and ensure the Occupational Health & Safety Policy is followed.
Raise safety concerns and report compliance and potential environmental incidents.
Attend safety meetings & training sessions
Essential Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in science, applied science, chemistry, or analytical chemistry
Proficiency in MS Suite
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with strong attention to detail
Outstanding organisational and follow up skills
Superior commitment to safe work practices
Experience working in the liquid and hazardous waste industry
Preferred but not essential:
Forklift licence
First Aid training (to be sponsored by company)
Related industry experience (preferably within the chemical waste industry).
