Experienced Manual HR Driver – General, Ugly & Unconventional Freight

GKR Transport has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced HR Driver to join our Welshpool team in a full-time, Monday to Friday role.

This is not a basic point to point driving role. We are looking for a confident, experienced driver who has worked with general freight, ugly freight, multi drop deliveries, chains, load restraint and unconventional loads.

You’ll be completing local pickups and deliveries across the Perth metro area, operating a modern automatic tautliner with gates. This role will suit someone who takes pride in safe load restraint, knows how to handle freight properly, and understands that not every load is clean, square or easy.

About the Role

As an HR Driver with GKR, you will be responsible for local multi drop pickups and deliveries across Perth, handling a variety of freight including general freight, ugly freight and unconventional loads.

Your duties will include:

• Completing local multi-drop pickups and deliveries across the Perth metropolitan area

• Operating a modern automatic tautliner with gates

• Loading, restraining and securing freight safely and correctly

• Working with general freight, ugly freight and unconventional loads

• Using straps, gates, dog and chains, binders and other load restraint equipment

• Completing pre-start and end of day vehicle checks

• Maintaining a high standard of safety, customer service and professional presentation

• Working closely with the warehouse, operations and transport teams

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• A current Manual HR Licence

• Minimum 2 years’ HR driving experience, ideally in local multi drop transport

• Proven experience handling general freight and ugly freight

• Experience securing unconventional or awkward loads

• Sound knowledge of load restraint, including straps, gates, dog and chains, and binders

• Knowledge of the Perth metropolitan area

• A strong focus on safety and compliance

• Good communication skills and a professional attitude

• The ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume transport environment

• A clean driving record, or willingness to provide a current driving history

• A forklift licence is preferred but not essential.

• You must also be willing to undergo a pre employment medical, police check and provide one recent work reference who can be contacted.
