About the role
Join the leadership team at Charleville School of Distance Education and play a key role in shaping teaching and learning for students across Queensland. As the Head of Department (Curriculum), you will lead whole-school curriculum implementation, strengthen teacher capability and drive evidence-informed teaching practices across Prep to Year 10. Working collaboratively within the leadership team, you will lead curriculum planning, moderation, professional learning, data analysis and instructional coaching to improve student outcomes.
This role would suit an experienced educational leader who is passionate about curriculum, literacy, instructional leadership and developing the capability of others. Charleville School of Distance Education, a Queensland State School offering quality educational services to home based learners from Prep to Year 10 in rural and remote Queensland and beyond.
Our students complete their education through daily use of online resources supplied within the Learning Place, telephone and video conferencing 'on-air' lessons, email and through materials sent via Australia Post. This is enhanced through attendance at Field Events, held each term, when students come together at various locations to meet their classmates and teachers face-to-face.

About the Role:
This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence whole-school improvement through the implementation of the Australian Curriculum Version 9, explicit reading instruction and evidence-based pedagogical practices. Our current improvement agenda focuses on embedding explicit vocabulary instruction across all learning areas and strengthening student engagement through high-quality practising within online learning environments.
