About the Opportunity
The Sales Support Specialist, based at Laverton North, is responsible for supporting the global tender network and field sales teams through effective and efficient pricing and proposal development to ensure sustainable new revenue growth.
This role includes managing global RFQs across air freight, ocean freight, and local transport, providing sales support, assisting with carrier negotiations, preparing reports and quotations, and supporting new business implementation. The Sales Support Specialist will work closely with the National Sales Manager, Business Development Managers, and Sales & Customer Service Manager (Melbourne), and collaborate with all relevant departments across Nippon Express Australia and NX overseas group companies and agents.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely quotations to support profitable growth.
Assist BDMs with pricing, cost estimates, and contract preparation throughout the sales cycle.
Ensure all proposals and contracts are approved by authorised signatories.
Support negotiations through cost analysis and alternative pricing options.
Contribute to the preparation and submission of global and local tenders to maximise win rates.
Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing customer accounts.
Identify hand over business customers and call them to offer additional services.
Analyse sales data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations to the National Sales Manager and BDMs.
Develop monthly market intelligence reports to support tactical and strategic selling.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
International freight industry experience (advantageous)
Experience supporting carrier procurement activities and assisting with rate negotiations
Experience supporting tender processes, including preparation of high-quality tender responses
High level of computer proficiency, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce or similar CRM systems
Goal-oriented and flexible, with a proactive approach to supporting the sales team and broader business objectives
Strong organisational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
A self-starter who takes ownership and uses initiative to problem-solve
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Effective communication and customer service skills
