Senior Pool Barrier Inspector

About the role

The Senior Pool Barrier Inspector is responsible for leading the City's private swimming pool barrier inspection program and ensuring statutory compliance with the Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012 and relevant Australian Standards.

The position provides technical leadership and supervision to Pool Barrier Inspectors to ensure the timely completion of inspections in line with statutory timeframes, supports consistent regulatory decision-making, and undertakes complex compliance and enforcement activities.

The role works closely with property owners, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve compliance while contributing to continuous improvement of inspection processes, customer service and legislative compliance.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

• Provide specialist technical advice and guidance to Pool Barrier Inspectors and other staff to ensure consistent interpretation and application of swimming pool barrier legislation, relevant Australian Standards, City policy and procedures
• Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City’s private swimming pool barrier inspection program, including inspection scheduling, workload management, compliance reporting and achievement of statutory inspection requirements.
• Provide senior technical advice to residents, builders, and other stakeholders regarding swimming pool barrier legislation and compliance requirements.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Completion of approved building surveying course or related building construction course completed allied industry training/qualification or substantial experience.
• 3-5 years’ experience.
• A current WA C Class Driver’s Licence.
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary for this position will be from $97,690.06 to $116,436.70 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
