About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Application and Product Security, the Product Security Advisor plays a critical role in partnering with the business to design and implement secure technology solutions across digital, cloud, traditional IT environments. Working closely with stakeholders you will provide practical cyber security guidance, assess risks and ensure security controls are embedded into projects and technology initiatives from the outset. You will help translate complex security concepts into clear business outcomes while contributing to the ongoing uplift of security practices, standards and frameworks across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technology teams to implement secure solutions across cloud, digital environments.
• Provide cyber security guidance and recommendations aligned to security standards, frameworks and best practice.
• Review and assess security architecture, integration approaches and solution designs.
• Translate complex technical security issues into clear business risks and recommendations.
• Support threat modelling activities and advise on appropriate security controls and mitigations.
• Provide advice relating to security protocols, identity and access management, cloud security and risk management practices.
• Contribute to the development of security best practices, standards and guidelines across the organisation.

About You

You are an experienced cyber security professional who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. You bring a strong risk mindset, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to balance technical security requirements with practical business outcomes.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience across cyber security, technology risk, security architecture, or security advisory roles
• Strong knowledge of cloud security controls and risks in AWS and Azure environments
• Familiarity with key security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI-DSS, and protocols such as OAuth2, OIDC, TLS, and SAML
• Experience in threat modelling, secure architecture design, and secure integration approaches, with broad understanding of identity, applications, infrastructure, networking, cloud, and DevOps
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, plus knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements (Privacy Act, SOCI) and relevant cyber security qualifications or certifications
