The Opportunity 
We are seeking a Graduate Lawyer to join our General Insurance team in Sydney, reporting to Partner Michael Adie.

Working within our Motor Vehicle team, you will assist insurers and self insured clients across a range of motor vehicle property damage, recovery and insurance litigation matters. You will have the opportunity to manage your own files, develop direct client relationships, appear in court and build your litigation expertise within a supportive and collaborative team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career lawyer looking to gain hands on experience, strengthen their technical capability and take increasing ownership of matters as their career develops.

Your Role

• Manage a portfolio of motor vehicle property damage and recovery matters appropriate to your level of experience
• Assist in the management and progression of litigation matters from commencement through to resolution
• Draft correspondence, pleadings, advices and other legal documents
• Review files, assess legal issues and contribute to matter strategy
• Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice to clients
• Prepare for and attend court appearances, mediations and other dispute resolution processes
• Brief and liaise with Counsel
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders
• Contribute to client reporting and ongoing engagement activities
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to team and firm objectives

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A law degree, very close to admission or admission to practise and hold a current NSW practising certificate
• Law clerk or paralegal experience ideally within litigation or insurance related matters
• Strong analytical, drafting and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A collaborative approach and commitment to client services

Desirable

• Experience in defendant insurance litigation
• Exposure to court processes, mediations or dispute resolution
• Experience in motor vehicle, property damage or recovery matters
• An interest in developing expertise within general insurance litigation
