About the role
Support Worker - Disability - Part-time (64 hours per fortnight)
New Lake Peer Support Limited is a not for profit organisation, established in 1989, and provides support to people with disability and their families and carers living in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Lower Hunter areas.
We have an opportunity for a Disability Support Worker to join our team who is reliable and has a genuine interest in supporting people with disability to lead full and active lives. The position is within our supported living services and the successful applicant will be required to provide support and assistance to people with disability to live as comfortably and independently as possible within their home.
Key responsibilities
· Support participants with daily personal care such as showering, shaving and toileting.
· Assistance with medication, meal preparation and positive behaviour support.
· Assist participants to access chosen community activities and attend appointments.
· Deliver supports in a safe and respectful manner whilst promoting the independence of participants.
· Carry out household chores.
· Sleepover supports for participants.
Preferred candidates will have: -
· At least 12 months experience working in a SIL position
· High level of written and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated organisational skills and time management
· Computer literacy and administration skills
· Availability to fulfil a rotating roster including weekends and overnights
· A commitment to delivering high-quality care and be reliable and punctual.
· Current unrestricted NSW driver’s license with own reliable, fully insured vehicle
· Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
· Hold a current Working with Children Check
· Cleared NDIS Worker Check
The position is based in the Newcastle area and the successful candidate will be required to be available and willing to work within a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work, including sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.
Note:
The successful applicant will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exemption certificate.
