About the role
Details: Do you enjoy a challenge and want to be part of a high‑performing team?
Join Roads ACT and be part of a dedicated crew that builds, maintains, and improves Canberra every day.
Roads ACT, within the City and Environment Directorate (CED), is seeking reliable, safety‑focused, and motivated individuals to fill a Concrete Labourer (GSO5/6) position within the Works team.
Roads ACT is responsible for the management of the ACT’s territorial and municipal roads, national highways, community paths, stormwater networks, bridges, car park facilities, traffic signals, street lighting, and associated infrastructure. These assets are managed on behalf of the ACT Government for the benefit and enjoyment of the Canberra community.
The Works business unit delivers predominantly in‑house services and provides a 24/7 incident response. Our services include street sweeping, line marking and signage maintenance, roadside furniture maintenance, road grading, and small to medium road maintenance works, including asphalt and concreting.
In this role, you will primarily undertake general concreting and road maintenance activities. You may rotate across various road maintenance crews depending on operational requirements, providing opportunities to develop new skills and contribute to a diverse range of works. The concreting team is seeking candidates with experience working in a road or construction environment, preferably with some concreting experience. The role may involve undertaking additional related duties across the broader Works team to support service delivery and build team capability.
The Concrete Labourer position within Roads ACT's Works Team involves assisting with the preparation, pouring, finishing, demolition, and disposal of concrete assets, while undertaking screeding and finishing activities to ensure high-quality concrete outcomes. The role contributes to the construction and maintenance of a range of Territory assets, including roads, driveways, kerbs, gutters, and verges. Employees are required to safely operate hand and power tools and carry out all tasks in accordance with established standard operating procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, and quality standards. The position offers the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and improving Canberra's essential road and civil infrastructure.
