About the Role
We are currently seeking a Despatch Administrator to work in a manufacturing despatch, receiving and warehousing environment. This role would suit candidates with previous experience in a warehousing and/or logistics role.
As Despatch Administrator you must, as part of a team, ensure the efficient and effective management of outward goods with our contracted freighters, provide accurate and timely freight estimations for our Sales/Project Management Teams, assist in operating and maintaining various freight systems, assist in the management of Chep/Loscam inventory, and other duties that are critical to a manufacturing facility.
This role requires strong skills in organisation, time management and a keen eye for detail. You must possess hands on ability with a focus on safety. You will be part of a team responsible for the daily movement of goods routed through despatch, and the timely and accurate running of the despatch systems, to meet our clients’ requests and needs.
Reporting to the Warehouse/Despatch Manager, the role requires you to liaise closely with the Despatch, Operations and Sales/Project Management Teams to ensure timely and accurate communication and service delivery.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure the efficient and effective management of outward goods with our contracted freighters, and take responsibility for the daily movement of goods routed through despatch
Obtain accurate freight quotes based on information provided by the Sales/Project Management Team, and return these in a timely manner
Operate and maintain various freight systems, e.g. IFS, Startrack & TNT
Manage Chep/Loscam inventory daily, keeping costs to a minimum
Pack, wrap and load finished goods for critical deliveries when required
Keep accurate records for all outward movements
Despatch goods in accordance with customer orders and warehouse procedures
Packaging or repackaging of outbound consignments, including labelling and packing to customer specific packaging requirements when required
When operating heavy plant and equipment, do so responsibly, safely and only within training and authorisation.
Maintain full awareness of pedestrians, traffic flow and shared work areas when operating equipment
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment of the warehouse and container unloading area
Ad hoc duties as required by the business
About you:
Previous experience in a Warehousing and/or Logistics role
Sound knowledge of MS applications Excel & Word, with exposure to freight or MIS operating systems highly regarded
Strong organisational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail
Hands on ability with a strong focus on safety
Comfortable working in a team environment, with a sense of urgency and a "can do" attitude
Current Forklift licence highly regarded
