Registered Nurse

Across Australia Just Better Care provides in-home aged care and disability support services, supporting people to live independently. Just Better Care Illawarra & Southern Highlands is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about facilitating the delivery of NDIS and Aged care services in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands region.

The role:

As the NDIS and Aged Care Registered Nurse you will work closely with our clinical consultant to facilitate the ongoing care needs of NDIS and My Aged Care customers. You will be tasked with the internal development or adaptation of, high intensity support plans for clients living with medication, catheter/urostomy, colostomy, wound and bowel management needs. You will also provide informed clinical assessments of client health needs relative to the operational capacities of the business. You will also contribute to the training and assessment of care worker skills competencies, as they relate to the above mentioned clinical plans.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

• Perform nursing services in a manner that complies with all relevant legislative, common law, regulatory requirements, and professional standards affecting nursing practice.

• Perform regular and comprehensive reviews of clinical support plans at 3-month intervals or as required

• Possess, apply, and develop contemporary nursing knowledge to effectively support customers when developing and delivering planned care to meet their needs.

• Consider all current and emerging NDIS, My Aged Care and Just Better Care clinical management policies to identify and close any operational gaps in clinical compliance.

• Providing training, coaching and guidance to Community Support Professionals, Enrolled Nurses and Support Staff/Case Managers as required

• Conducting skills assessments of Community Support Professionals performing complex care services as required

• Assist in the preparation and participation of any industry audits, particularly in reference to clinical compliance and identify clinical non-compliance should be rectified in a suitable manner and time frame.

• Provide contemporary advice on any client clinical matters, which arise in the course of Just Better Care operations. Where matters are outside the scope of the Registered Nurses knowledge and qualification, appropriate referrals are made in a timely manner. Accurate reports of actions taken, including referrals, are maintained for future reference.

• Monitoring the wellbeing of clients and informing JBC Management of any concerns or changes, and taking action within the scope of the customer’s individual care plan.

• Providing clinical leadership and supervision to ensure complex care and specialised nursing services are delivered.

What you will need:

• A minimum of 1 year post-grad experience as an Registered Nurse (desired)

• Current Registered Nurse registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

• Insight into how relevant legislation impacts disability and aged care services.

• Good knowledge of the NDIS and MAC funding instruments and the disability and aged care accreditation standards.

• Great written documentation and assessment skills.

• A 'hands on' approach to ensuring quality clinical care.

• Good interpersonal skills, with a passion for caring for others.

• Strong initiative and effective time management in proactive care mentorship.

• Tech savvy with a good grasp on client/data management systems and a knack for learning new programs.
