About the role
We are currently looking for enthusiastic people to join our Customer Service team. The team are the face of MCEC, living and breathing our welcoming and positive culture and values. They provide our patrons and the public with general information, directions, assistance, cloaking, ushering at events and so much more.
The Customer Service Attendant role is diverse and impactful where no one day is the same. We are seeking individuals with demonstrated experience in the delivery of face to face customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Our business operates seven days a week, with shifts starting as early as 6am or finishing late at night. Broad flexibility for shifts is preferred. Reliability and punctuality are a must.

The Victorian Convention and Exhibition Trust (VCET) manages and operates the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre.
Through strategic leadership and operational oversight, VCET delivers world-class events and experiences while championing innovation, sustainability, and excellence. Its work is instrumental in strengthening Victoria's reputation as a leading destination for conferences, exhibitions, and major events.
About You
Are you an enthusiastic customer service professional who loves engaging with people from all over the world? Do you have extensive in-person customer service experience? Can you resolve complaints and de-escalate situations? Can you anticipate the needs of customers? Do you like shift work? You do need to be fit and healthy as you should expect to be on your feet for most of your shift, including walking up and down flights of stairs and across our large venue. Our events may involve strobe lighting and pyrotechnics, so you also need to be comfortable within these environments and working within secure balcony areas.
About the role
Maintain a sound understanding of customer service procedures to ensure the resolution of enquiries and complaints.
Be situationally aware and maintain that awareness, enhancing the safety and security of everyone.
Ensure requests for services are completed promptly for both internal and external customers.
Have an excellent understanding of all events scheduled in the venue, including Plenary events and surrounding precincts including local tourism services.
Provide best practice customer service to patrons, delegates, and organisers, including proactively provide direction and assistance and act as a point of contact for organisers of events.
Be culturally sensitive to all our guests.
Ensure the venue is always presented to the highest standards and cleanliness.
Provide informative directions to assist guests in finding their way around our 70,000 square metre venue.
Act as an Usher in MCEC’s theatres, assisting guests and venue staff with the delivery of events.
Manage cloakrooms, ensuring our guests property is safe and handled according to policy.
Provide support to other departments as directed by the Customer Service Coordinators and Manager.

To be considered you must be available to attend an in-person interview on either:
Thursday 10th September from 08.30am to 12.30pm or
Monday 14th September from 12.30pm to 4.30pm
You will only be required to attend one of these interview dates. These dates and times cannot be changed.
Then if successful, be available to attend paid induction and training Monday 21st September and Tuesday 22nd September. You must be available to attend on both dates.
