About the team
The Reserve Bank of Australia issues Australia’s banknotes and ensure they remain secure and fit for purpose. This role is seeking an Electronic System Engineer to work in the Note Issue department located in Craigieburn, Victoria. The Electronic System Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of banknote authentication detectors and quality assurance devices reporting to the manager of the R&D projects team.
About the role
Design and builds hardware components such as custom enclosures, fixtures and mechanical mounts for instruments and devices
Design, fabrication and assembly of optoelectronic components and systems
Printed circuit board design and assembly
Connecting electronic subsystems so they communicate and function together
Electronics debugging and troubleshooting
About you
Minimum 5+ years' experience in the design, fabrication and assembly of optoelectronic components and systems.
Bachelor's degree in mechatronics/electronic engineering or equivalent
Enhanced skills in designing and fabrication of electronic circuits and enclosures
Skills in electronics design packages e.g. Altium
Skills in electronics assembly tools (e.g. oscilloscopes, signal generator, power supplies, soldering, reflow oven)
Proficient in use of computer aided design programs e.g. Solidworks
Demonstrated experience in additive and substrative manufacturing techniques
Competent machining skills (e.g. CNC, milling, lathe)
Highly competent communication skills - both writing and verbal
Programming code skills (e.g. C, C++, Visual Studio, Arduino) would be advantageous
