About the role
Football Victoria (FV) is the governing body for football in Victoria.
We are recognised as the organisation responsible for the administration, promotion and delivery of football and futsal (indoor football) in the state by both the State and Federal Governments, as well as Football Australia (FA).
Our funding derives from membership and club affiliation fees, government grants and corporate sponsorship
Through the national body's affiliation with FIFA (Federation of International Football Associations), we look after everything football in Victoria including:
Semi-professional ranks;
Amateurs;
Youth;
Referees;
Coaches;
Officials;
Volunteers.

FV are a not-for-profit sporting organisation run by a Board of Directors. We reinvest any money generated by the game in a financially prudent manner, prioritising in providing more coaching, education, facilities, support and participation opportunities to the community and our partners back to where it is needed most.
We currently employ over 80 staff to deliver on the FV Strategic Plan (“Our Football”) and administration of weekly football matches, producing annual football fixtures and appropriate rules of competition. Referees are also appointed to these matches to facilitate a safer and more enjoyable participation experience.
We also deliver programs and resources to talented players, coaches, referees, and club volunteers while promoting the game through various channels, keeping our members informed regularly through a dedicated communications program.
FV has a clearly articulated strategic priority to reach 50:50 participation across all aspects of our game by 2027 and stand united as an organisation to ensure it is central to all our decision making.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Business Unit: Equity, Growth & Government Relations
Reports To: Manager – Metropolitan Development
Direct Reports: Nil
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Metropolitan Development Coordinator acts as a key relationship manager between Football Victoria, metropolitan clubs, communities and Local Government Areas, ensuring clubs are connected to resources, programs, education opportunities, strategic support and advocacy initiatives that contribute to healthy and sustainable football ecosystems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Club Capacity Building
Assist in building Club capability and readiness through development and education opportunities to enhance capacity to grow the game
Facilitate workshops, webinars, forums and education opportunities for clubs and volunteers
Support the implementation of Club Changer and other club development frameworks
Support volunteer recruitment, retention and succession planning initiatives within clubs
Assist clubs in strategic planning and sustainable growth practices
Assist in developing, implementing, and supporting strategy, initiatives, and programs within Clubs that promote positive environments for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
Serve as a liaison between FV, Clubs, and Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring effective communication and engagement with relevant FV departments
Support the broader strategic planning and development of football within clubs and each LGA, including regular in-person consultation and delivery of online/in-person group forums
Growth through Acquisition
Identify community-based growth opportunities to drive participant acquisition and engagement
Collaborate to review, develop, and enhance programs that align with community needs
Establish and strengthen relationships between clubs, schools and community organisations to support participation pathways
Community & Government Engagement
Build and maintain productive relationships with LGAs and community stakeholders
Support football facility audits, infrastructure assessments and facility planning initiatives
Identify local grant, funding and partnership opportunities that support football development
Represent FV at stakeholder meetings, community events and forums
Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation
Track participation data, program outcomes and club engagement activities
Maintain accurate records, reporting systems and stakeholder information
Gather stakeholder feedback and evaluate initiatives to support continuous improvement
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Identify and implement football growth opportunities across allocated LGAs
Increase participation opportunities and club engagement in inclusive football programs
Ensure all allocated clubs are actively engaged through tailored support and development plans
Deliver club development workshops, forums and webinars
Implement Club Changer and other club development initiatives
Achieve positive club satisfaction and stakeholder feedback outcomes
Maintain productive relationships with metropolitan councils and community stakeholders
Support the identification, assessment and escalation of facility development opportunities
Maintain accurate engagement and stakeholder data and provide timely performance reporting

SELECTION CRITERIA
A valid Working with Children’s Check
Tertiary qualification in Sport Management, Community Development, Education, Business or a related field (desirable)
Demonstrated understanding of community sporting club structures, governance and volunteer-led environments
Experience supporting the delivery of community participation and development programs
Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
Understanding of local government processes, grants and facility planning
Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills
Ability to analyse engagement data and prepare reports
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and child safety principles
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position regularly requires non-traditional hours and frequent weekend work. Travel is primarily local during business days; some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
