To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a dynamic crew member to join our Open Spaces Maintenance team. This role is offered on a casual basis, with the potential to transition to a permanent full-time position subject to business needs and demonstrated performance by the successful candidate.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
Perform high quality maintenance and improvements of Golden Plains Shire’s open space assets as delegated by the Supervisor Open Spaces Maintenance and the Team leader Open Spaces Maintenance, ensuring all tasks have been completed to Council and industry best practice standards and expectations.
Carry out environmental reserve maintenance activities, including but not limited to flora and fauna management as directed by the Supervisor Open Spaces Maintenance in collaboration with the Environment team.
Operate Open Space plant in a competent, safe and efficient manner, at the direction of the Open Spaces Supervisor, ensuring the team’s operation of plant is conducted safely and efficiently.
Completing site safety analysis and recording for each job site, or task.
Engage with the community on a general day to day basis in a positive and polite manner, role modelling Council’s values in all interactions.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Cert III in Parks related qualifications (i.e. Horticulture/Arboriculture/Conservation and Land Management/ Landscaping) or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through practical experience.
Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality community-focused outcomes.
Experience in plant operation and maintenance.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently.
A strong knowledge of OHS practices and a commitment to supporting a culture that promotes safety and wellbeing.
Ability to identify, discuss and resolve problems through strong communication skills.
Other requirements
Employment in this role is conditional on successful completion of an employment medical.
