About the role
ENGEO is growing our laboratory team and we’re looking for a Cadet or Junior Laboratory Technician to join us!
This is an entry‑level opportunity and would be great fit for someone looking to start their career in the laboratory and construction testing industry.
We’re proud of the way we train and support our people, and this role is all about learning the ropes, getting hands‑on experience, and developing into a fully competent laboratory technician.
About the roleAs a Cadet Laboratory Technician, you work closely with a team of lab techs to gain exposure and competence across a wide range of laboratory and field activities:
Assisting with sampling and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, and other construction materials
Supporting field investigation for engineering projects
Logging and labelling soil and rock samples and assisting with field records
Working alongside senior technicians and project teams to learn correct testing methods and safe work practices
Progressively building competency across laboratory test methods in line with the NATA scope of accreditation
Helping with general laboratory duties such as equipment maintenance and record keeping
This role is designed as a training position, with structured support, mentoring, and clear development milestones.
About youWe’re open‑minded about background and experience, and encourage applications from:
High school or university graduates with an interest in science, construction and hands‑on technical work
Candidates who already hold a Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Skills, or are keen to work towards one
Some attributes we're looking for:
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Good attention to detail and a practical, hands‑on approach
Clear verbal and written communication skills
The ability to work well in a team‑based environment
A genuine interest in laboratory, field testing and quality systems
A valid driver's licence
Previous lab or field experience is helpful but not required - full training will be provided.
