About the role
Aboriginal Health Worker – Moree or Narrabri
Full-time | Contract | Identified Position
HealthWISE is looking for multiple Aboriginal Health Workers to join our team in Moree or Narrabri, providing services to communities including Wee Waa and Moree. You will work closely with clients, health professionals and the community to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
We Welcome Candidates Who
Have a Certificate III or IV in primary health care. Are working towards a certificate.Are recent school leavers or people who don’t have qualifications yet.
We can support you in training alongside your team mates while you work in the new role. We can also assist you in relocating to our Narrabri or Moree offices if you are based elsewhere.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team delivering culturally appropriate, person-centred care. This is a meaningful opportunity to advocate for community needs and support access to quality health services.
About The Role
Build relationships with local Aboriginal communitiesWork closely with the HealthWISE multidisciplinary health care teamFacilitate access to GPs, allied health and specialist carePromote cultural awareness across teams and servicesDeliver health education, promotion and advocacyAssist in organising and participating in community eventsDirect client support, including transport and appointment assistance
About You
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander*Strong community connections and cultural knowledgeCommunication and relationship-building skillsWillingness to travel and work flexibly when neededAustralian driver's licenceCertificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or willingness to work towards itThis is an Identified Position. HealthWISE considers being Aboriginal a genuine occupational qualification under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
