About the role
What is the Permanent Relief Team?
The Permanent Relief Team (PR) is a group of qualified professionals, including Early Childhood Teachers, Diploma and Certificate III Educators, and Chefs who support KU services by filling temporary vacancies. Unlike casual staff, PR team members are permanent employees and play a vital role in:
Services are grouped by region, and team members travel within their allocated area to all services. The team is supported by a Permanent Relief Manager and dedicated coordinators, with rosters typically provided 6–8 weeks in advance.
The Role
Due to the continued success of the PR team, we are recruiting for multiple positions following internal progression.
This role suits experienced Diploma Qualified Educators who thrive in play-based environments, enjoy variety, and value building meaningful connections with children, families, and colleagues.
Positions are primarily full-time (Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts), with part-time options considered for the right candidates. The region this role will support is mainly Newcastle; however you will also travel to Ourimbah (Central Coast) and Tanilba Bay (Port Stephens).
Flexibility is essential. You will work a range of opening and closing shifts across multiple services in your region, with occasional short-notice changes to your schedule. A valid driver’s licence and access to a car are required.
You will report to the Permanent Relief Manager, who provides tailored support and mentorship. The PR team also connects through an annual professional development day and optional networking sessions.
