About the Role

Marist180 is seeking passionate and committed Youth Workers to join our Therapeutic Care Home (TCH) and Immediate Transition Model (ITM) programs.

In this rewarding role, you will provide therapeutic, trauma-informed support to children and young people aged 0–18 years who have experienced significant adversity and require a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. You will play a key role in supporting their wellbeing, emotional development, daily living skills, education, and community participation while building positive and meaningful relationships. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the implementation of individual care plans and support young people to achieve positive outcomes through relationship-based practice. Depending on operational requirements, you may work across both ITM and TCH programme.

This role operates on a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, sleepovers, and active overnight shifts.

Experience & Skills:

• Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect or significant adversity.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care principles.
• Ability to build and maintain therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
• Experience supporting children and young people with complex behaviours and support needs.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice.
• Sound written communication and record keeping skills.
• Understanding of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities.
• Actively contribute to a child-safe organisation by championing the safety, wellbeing, rights and voices of children and young people; recognising and reporting child-safety concerns; and contributing to an open, accountable and learning culture where concerns, incidents and feedback are used to strengthen practice and prevent harm.

Qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health or related discipline
• Training in trauma-informed care, therapeutic care, crisis intervention or behaviour support.
• For Aboriginal Staff, a qualification is desirable, but experience and willingness to participate in training is acceptable.

Desirable:

• Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences or related discipline.

Work Requirements: 

• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Current NSW Working With Children Check.
• National Criminal History Check.
• Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
• Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays, sleepovers and active overnight shifts.
• Provide consent to complete a verification of the Residential Care Workers Register managed by Office of the Children’s Guardian
