Be the technical lead behind the infrastructure that supports thousands of employees and nearly 700 centres across Australia.

Goodstart is looking for a Technical Infrastructure Manager who is equally comfortable getting into the technology and leading a team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead a team of five while remaining the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and major incidents.

Initially, the role is weighted towards hands-on technical delivery, with the leadership component growing as the team and function mature. You’ll personally configure and troubleshoot our Microsoft technology environment, while also providing technical direction, developing your team and contributing to Goodstart’s broader technology strategy.

You’ll play a key role in our Resilient Technology Foundation (RTF) program, supporting the transition from legacy technologies to a modern Microsoft environment and ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, stable, resilient and fit for purpose.

Your Impact

Lead the technical delivery and operational performance of Goodstart’s core infrastructure environment.Personally configure, troubleshoot and manage technologies across Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365.Act as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and major incidents, troubleshooting and resolving issues directly where required.Lead and support a team of five infrastructure professionals, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, accountability and continuous improvement.Support Goodstart’s transition from legacy technologies to a modern Microsoft technology environment.Develop, implement and maintain infrastructure policies and configurations, including Intune policies that impact how employees use their devices.Plan and deliver technology changes using appropriate testing, pilot groups, staged deployment, monitoring and rollback processes.Ensure infrastructure services are secure, reliable, scalable and resilient across Goodstart’s national environment.Lead infrastructure operations including availability, capacity planning, incident management, change management, release management and IT asset management.Contribute to infrastructure architecture, technology standards and lifecycle planning to support sustainable and fit-for-purpose technology decisions.Partner with ICT and business leaders to understand genuine business requirements and translate these into practical technology solutions.Manage key technology vendors and strategic partners, including Microsoft, ensuring service quality, performance and outcomes meet Goodstart’s requirements.Ensure business continuity, disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience capabilities remain effective and fit for purpose.Contribute to Goodstart’s ICT Strategy by identifying practical opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, security, efficiency and user experience.

You’ll bring to the table

Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.Demonstrated experience working in a hands-on enterprise infrastructure role, ideally within a large, complex in-house environment such as a large NFP, government or enterprise organisation.Strong and current hands-on technical capability across Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365.Demonstrated experience personally configuring, troubleshooting and implementing changes across Microsoft technologies.Practical experience developing and implementing Intune policies and device configurations, with an understanding of how changes affect end users.Experience planning and rolling out technology changes using testing, pilot groups, staged deployment, monitoring and rollback approaches.Demonstrated experience acting as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and major incidents.Experience supporting or leading a Microsoft technology uplift or migration from legacy technologies to modern platforms.Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, IT service management, asset management and business continuity.Strong understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem, change and release management.Experience managing technology vendors and strategic partners, including the ability to hold vendors accountable for service quality and outcomes.Ability to quickly understand a new technology environment, identify risks and priorities, and make practical technical decisions.Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.A collaborative and open communication style, with a willingness to share information, contribute as an active team member and create a positive working environment.A hands-on leadership style with a genuine interest in developing and supporting a high-performing technical team.A pragmatic approach to infrastructure management, with a focus on stability, resilience, risk mitigation and sustainable improvement rather than change for change’s sake.Microsoft certifications or other relevant infrastructure, cloud or networking certifications will be highly regarded.Current QLD Blue Card (or willing to obtain one).
