As a Senior Engineer, Secondary, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering critical transmission substation projects across AusNet's network. Leveraging your expertise in protection and control systems, you'll provide technical expertise, influence key engineering decisions and help deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that support the energy transition.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and our Design and Construction Delivery Partners, you'll drive engineering excellence from concept through to delivery, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Southbank, Melbourne, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement, and forms part of our Design Management team within Transmission.
What you’ll be doing:Project engineering in a Transmission Design Management teamProvide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet's Transmission networkApply protection and control technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projectsDevelop scopes and specifications for design and construction. Review and assess brownfield and greenfield electricity substation designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design covering:Protection scheme and control system designsProtection relay settings and configurationContribute to the development of scopes and estimates for Transmission substation projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including:Supporting the development of project schedules and risk registersProviding engineering input into commercial offers on customer offersIdentify opportunities to develop new or improved standards and to ensure the timely delivery of efficient solutions of complex technical engineering designs and standards, taking ownership of process improvement initiatives and development of new methods where necessary What we're looking for:You don't need to tick every box, but you'll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, industry experience, and a passion for delivering critical infrastructure and be ready to that that next step in your career.Degree qualification in Electrical EngineeringExtensive experience working in electricity substations engineering, project delivery and/or design roleDetailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in transmission secondary systems engineering focusing on protection and controlDetailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risksSimplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (eg summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design)Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodiesDemonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goalsRegistration as a Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV), or eligibility to obtain registration, is highly regardedCurrent driver's licence required (travel to sites and offices as required) The AusNet experience is all about… Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking clever ways and looking at things differently.Building an energy future to be proud of: We’re a trusted leader, with deep expertise, driven to do what’s right for our customers and communities.Being a part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times.
