VSL Australia is currently recruiting for a project based Full-Time Mechanical Grab Operator in Melbourne.
Working as part of the commercial team of a joint-venture on a ground engineering project in Melbourne, the Mechanical Grab operator shall play a key role in leading equipment maintenance, coordinating heavy geotechnical machinery (lifting, moving, and placing material), and ensuring site safety. Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
About The RoleWe are currently seeking for 1 role, an experienced Mechanical Grab Operator to join our team in Melbourne. These roles are integral to major infrastructure projects, where you will play a crucial part in the development and execution of sophisticated construction methodologies. Your role will see you:Safely operate mechanical grab equipment to lift, transfer, load and position materials in accordance with project requirements Conduct daily pre-start inspections to confirm the equipment is safe, operational and suitable for the planned work.Operating Mechanical Grab equipment with precision and safety.Collaborating with project teams to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.Demonstrating a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making on-site.Work closely with supervisors, off siders, riggers and ground personnel to coordinate safe and efficient operations.Assist with routine cleaning, basic maintenance and the secure storage of equipment and attachments.
Skills & Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil mechanical operator handling.Proven experience operating mechanical grab equipment.Strong knowledge of safe lifting and material handling practices.Ability to complete equipment inspections and identify mechanical faults.Excellent hand eye coordination and equipment control skills.Sound English language skills Ability to work autonomously and proactively
Essential RequirementsNecessary certification / licenses for the positionProven Experience handling Mechanical machinery.Australian White Card, Drivers License.
