Structural Engineer (RPEQ or RPEQ-Ready) | Steel Frames & Trusses

About the role

You will own the structural engineering behind our industry leading frames and trusses. Based full-time at our Larapinta head office and reporting to our Head of Design Operations, you will work alongside our design and detailing team. Rather than handing a design over and moving on, you stay with the product. You see it manufactured in our factory and installed on real homes, and you get the feedback loop to keep making it better.

Key responsibilities

• Review and mark up preliminary structural designs for light gauge steel frames, trusses and floor systems.

• Provide RPEQ Form 15 certification prior to manufacture, and occasional Form 12 aspect inspections on site variations.

• Design and check cold-formed steel framing to AS/NZS 4600, AS/NZS 1170, AS 4055 and the NASH Standard.

• Optimise designs for material and labour efficiency, finding leaner solutions that never compromise safety or compliance.

• Develop and publish span tables and design guidelines, so detailers know exactly what to expect and can work faster.

• Lead research and development on products and standard details, so what we build keeps getting better.

About you

• Current RPEQ registration in the structural area of practice, able to issue Form 15 certificates. If you are eligible but not yet registered, or you hold registration interstate or in New Zealand, we will support you through the process.

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Strong working knowledge of the NCC, AS 1170, AS 4055 AS4600 and the NASH Standard.

• Experience in residential construction.

• An optimiser's mindset: the most efficient compliant solution, rather than adding unnecessary steel.

• Highly regarded: hands-on light gauge or cold-formed steel design to AS/NZS 4600, frame and truss experience of any kind including timber, and experience developing span tables or standard details.
