Little St Margaret’s Kindergarten, Malvern, was established in 1929 and is a long-standing, community-based sessional kindergarten offering a specialised early learning curriculum in a warm, family-friendly environment. We value strong, respectful relationships between educators, families and our parent-run Council and are proud of our supportive and welcoming team. Our program is enriched by a range of additional specialist learning experiences that are unique to Little St Margaret’s and support children’s holistic development. Little St Margaret’s Kindergarten is proudly rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards.

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring and passionate Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our dynamic team. Applications are warmly encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and from individuals from culturally and or linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The successful applicant will work within our Extended Care program alongside an Activity Group Leader. The role also includes providing lunch cover on Thursdays.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality early childhood programs informed by children’s interests, early childhood development and approved educational frameworks

• Support inclusive, play-based learning environments where all children are encouraged to participate and achieve their potential

• Build and maintain respectful, professional relationships with children, families, colleagues and the Committee of Management

• Work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a professional and supportive team

• Ensure compliance with service policies, the National Quality Framework and all relevant Victorian legislation

Child Safety and Wellbeing

• Uphold and embed the 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards in everyday practice

• Maintain a child-safe, inclusive and culturally responsive environment

• Actively supervise children and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries at all times

• Identify and respond to child safety and wellbeing concerns in line with service policies and reporting requirements

• Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing

• Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills and a working knowledge of technology

Employment Conditions

Employment conditions are in accordance with the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020.

Days and Hours

• Monday: 10:30 am – 6:00 pm

• Tuesday: 10.30 am – 6:00 pm

• Wednesday: 11:15 am – 3:30 pm

• Thursday: 10:30 am – 6:00 pm

• Friday: 11:15 am – 5:00 pm

Total hours: 30.75 hours per week

• Contact hours: 24.5 hours

• Non-contact hours: 6.25 hours
