About the role
The Opportunity
Join The Kids Research Institute Australia as an Outreach Facilitator and help bring science to life for students and communities across Western Australia.
Working within the Community Engagement team, you will support the delivery of curriculum-aligned outreach and education programs, including school incursions, excursions, laboratory tours, school holiday workshops, STEM festivals and community events. This hands-on role is ideal for someone passionate about science communication, education and creating memorable learning experiences for young people.
As the face of our outreach programs, you will engage students of all ages, represent the Institute professionally and contribute to inspiring future scientists, researchers and healthcare professionals.
Some early morning, evening or weekend work may be required for events.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Deliver engaging science workshops, laboratory tours and outreach activities for school and community groups. Support the coordination and delivery of STEM events, incursions, excursions and regional outreach activities. Set up, maintain and pack down workshop materials and equipment. Supervise students and ensure a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment. Build positive relationships with teachers, students, families and community stakeholders.
This role is offered on a casual basis (15 hours per week on average, but this will vary).
The hourly casual rate for this role is 48.11 - 53.06 (depending on experience).
About You
Studying or qualified in Education, Science, Science Communication or a related discipline. Experienced in delivering presentations, workshops or facilitated learning experiences to diverse audiences. Confident communicating scientific concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate way. Demonstrated classroom, group facilitation or behaviour management skills. Highly organised, adaptable and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Committed to child safety, duty of care and creating inclusive learning environments. Hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working With Children Check. Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certification.
