Community Connector

As a Community Connector, you'll play a vital role in supporting children, young people and families across the Southwest region to build meaningful connections with their communities, access valuable supports, and strengthen their wellbeing. Working within our Restoring Families program, you'll collaborate with families, community organisations and service providers to create pathways for participation, inclusion and long-term positive outcomes.

As a Community Connector, you will:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, services and stakeholders to create opportunities and improve access to supports for children, young people and families.
• Support families to connect with community activities, universal services, peer networks and informal supports that enhance wellbeing, inclusion and resilience.
• Deliver practical coaching, skill development and group-based activities that strengthen confidence, social connections and community participation.
• Work collaboratively with practitioners, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and other partners to provide culturally responsive support and promote self-determination for Aboriginal children and families.

Position Details

• Part-time, fixed term position until 30 June 2027
• 0.8 FTE working 30.4 hours per week
• $92,496 (pro-rata) p/a + Super & Salary Packaging

What We’re Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Development, Health Promotion, Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability, including supporting engagement in community life and strengthening social connection.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with individuals, families and community stakeholders, with experience in community engagement and partnership development.
• Well-developed communication and facilitation skills, including experience delivering group based activities, workshops or practical supports that build confidence, skills and participation.
• Demonstrated ability to identify barriers impacting participation and access for families, and work collaboratively with practitioners and stakeholders to support practical, inclusive solutions.
