Cadet / Junior Estimator

About the role

A Cadet / Junior Estimator position with a Civil and Retaining Wall contractor based in South East Queensland. This role is ideal for someone with basic estimating experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and a positive, can-do attitude who is keen to grow within the civil construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings and tender documentation
• Assist in preparing BOQs, take-offs and tender submissions
• Measure quantities using AutoCAD and CostX
• Support the Senior Estimator in analysing scope, risks and pricing
• Assist with tender schedules, letters of offer and amendments
• Liaise with clients and internal teams during the tender process
• Attend site inspections as required to assist with tender understanding

About you

• Some experience or strong interest in estimating (civil background preferred)
• Would suit a 2nd year Under Graduate in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying Estimating or Construction Management
• Have a minimum of 1 years experience in CAD and Quantity Surveying is preferred
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
• Basic knowledge of estimating processes and quantity take-offs
• CostX experience is an advantage but not essential
• Methodical, organised and able to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
• Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment
