About the role
We are seeking an experienced Aged Care Medicator to join Trinity Public Care Pty Ltd in Sydney, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential medication management services to our aged care residents. As an Aged Care Medicator, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive their medications safely and accurately, directly contributing to their health, wellbeing and quality of life. Your expertise in medication administration will be fundamental to our commitment to delivering high-quality aged care services.
Key responsibilities
Administering medications to aged care residents in accordance with prescriptions and care plans
Maintaining accurate medication records and documentation for all residents
Monitoring residents for adverse reactions or side effects following medication administration
Communicating effectively with nursing staff, medical practitioners and care team members regarding medication-related concerns
Ensuring compliance with aged care legislation, regulations and organisational medication policies and procedures
Assisting with medication storage, ordering and inventory management
Providing clear explanations to residents about their medications in a compassionate manner
Supporting the dignity, privacy and independence of residents during medication administration
Identifying and reporting medication errors or safety concerns promptly
What we're looking for
Certificate IV in Aged Care or equivalent qualification – this is essential
A minimum of 3 years' experience working as a medicator or in a similar medication administration role within aged care settings
Current knowledge of aged care medication management practices, guidelines and legislative requirements
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families and healthcare professionals
Proven capability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
A valid Working with Children Check or equivalent screening clearance as required by legislation
Reliability and professional conduct in a healthcare environment
Experience with electronic medication management systems would be advantageous
