Magazine Editor – Club Management – part-time role
Sydney-based (Glebe)
The Intermedia Group has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced magazine editor or senior journalist to work on Club Management, the best-in-class national B2B title for Australia’s huge licensed clubs industry.
About us
The Intermedia Group is one of the leading independent publishers in Australia, with trade media titles serving several major industries. We enjoy a friendly and supportive work environment, are flexible in terms of working from home, and benefit from a variety of opportunities for professional development and training.
The role
As editor, you will be required to produce content and shape the direction and editorial policy for the magazine, website and digital newsletter, targeting senior management within the clubs sector.
To be successful in this role, you will already have solid editorial experience and understand how to create engaging content for your readers. You will have an eye for detail and a nose for a great story. You will be highly organised and able to manage multiple projects.
You will also have a commercial understanding of the B2B publishing landscape and be willing to engage with advertisers and sponsors to ensure the success of the title.
As you will be dealing with a variety of stakeholders, you will need excellent interpersonal skills and will be able to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of the clubs sector and the hospitality industry would be an advantage, but is not essential.
The role is part-time, three days a week, but there may be opportunities to expand the role in the future. You’ll work with, and report into, the managing editor of the title.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Co-ordinate the production of a market-leading quarterly trade publication and weekly email newsletter.
- Work in conjunction with contributors and freelancers and manage a budget.
- Act as a figurehead and ambassador for the titles, attending relevant functions and press events to boost the profile of the titles which may require outside office hours. Some interstate traveI may be required from time to time.
- Work with the sales team on commercial copy and developing business relationships and initiatives.
- Developing relevant contacts and knowledge of the sectors the title serves to further the title’s reputation as authoritative, accurate and current.
- Represent the publication at events, trade fairs and exhibitions.
- Manage social media accounts for the relevant titles.
- Respond to inquiries from readers, suppliers and other industry stakeholders as required.
This role provides the successful applicant with:
- An attractive salary package
- The opportunity to join a strong media team
- Long term career growth within the organisation
- Opportunity to spearhead a publication serving the $7bn clubs sector
The Intermedia Group is one of Australia’s leading independent media companies. Market-leading titles in the portfolio include Hospitality, Australian Hotelier, National Liquor News and The Shout.
