This is a unique opportunity to join the well-established Obstetric Medicine department at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney. The Royal is one of Australia’s foremost specialist hospitals for women and babies and is the principal teaching hospital for the University of NSW. It is a dynamic institution within the Randwick Health and Innovation Precinct, colocated with the Prince of Wales Hospital, and is in close proximity to the University of New South Wales, the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Mothersafe and a number of Research Institutes with a priority focus on Women’s Health across the Lifespan.
The Obstetric Medicine team works closely with a busy Maternal-Fetal Medicine service and the RHW Fertility service, as well as providing support to all Maternity Care providers and tertiary services throughout NSW. With 3,000 deliveries annually, the obstetric medicine team provides both inpatient and outpatient care for women with medical disorders in pregnancy, along with general medicine care for the Gynaecology and Gynae-Oncology departments. The successful applicant will be well supported by the current physicians to participate in general obstetric medicine and diabetes in pregnancy clinics, along with services including preconception counselling/telehealth, and will participate in the inpatient and after-hours on-call roster. Clinical research opportunities and educational opportunities are available through the University of New South Wales and the SESLHD Women’s Health Research Initiatives.
The Obstetric Medicine Staff Specialist will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Maternity and Gynaecology Services Divisions.
This position is located at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick.
The Obstetric Medicine Service is seeking for a Staff Specialist to work at the Royal Hospital for Women. This is an exciting opportunity for committed individual to broaden their experience in Obstetric Medicine.
The RHW is a tertiary teaching hospital providing state-wide Maternity, Gynaecology, Gynaecology Oncology, Endogynaecology, Fertility (including IVF), Newborn Care services and Mental Health Services. The Senior Medical Officer will work closely with the RHW Maternity, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology Departments.
The successful candidate may be eligible for a conjoint appointment to the Prince of Wales Clinical School with the UNSW Faculty of Medicine. The level of the appointment will be determined by qualifications and experience.
The applicant must be dedicated to a teamwork philosophy and be able to demonstrate their ability to work as a team member within the facility.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
