About the role
Could you offer a child a safe, stable home for the long term?
Please note: this is a foster care placement, not employment. Carers are not employees and do not receive a salary or wage. A generous tax-free subsidy is paid fortnightly to help meet the costs of caring.
About the placement
My Place is seeking a specialised foster carer for a 9-year-old girl living with disability and complex support needs.
She is looking for a caring, stable and long-term home where she can feel safe, valued and supported to thrive.
Importantly, carers would not be undertaking this journey alone. She has an established multidisciplinary support team around her, as well as regular breaks with another foster carer every second weekend. This strong network provides ongoing guidance, practical support and continuity of care, helping both the child and her carers to succeed.
Who we're looking for
People with backgrounds in childcare, disability support, healthcare, education or other caring roles often make wonderful foster carers — but great carers come from many walks of life. What matters most is:
a home environment with a spare bedroom and a home that can meet the child's access needs
a willingness to learn
patience and compassion
the ability to provide a safe, consistent and nurturing environment
capacity to work alongside a support team and other professionals
What My Place provides
A generous tax-free subsidy of up to $3000 per fortnight
Comprehensive training before and throughout the placement
Specialist guidance and support from a dedicated team
Respite every second weekend with an established carer
A multidisciplinary team already working with the child
Requirements
All carers must complete an assessment process, which includes a Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, medical clearance, referee checks and a home assessment. Support is provided throughout.
