Senior Sales Assistant + Deli Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Senior Sales Assistant + Deli Assistant to join our friendly team at IGA Youngtown in Launceston, Tasmania.

This permanent part-time role will involve shifts across a wide variety of areas within our supermarket, including assisting with putting stock up, cashier roles, deli shifts and opening/closing the supermarket on select days. The role will be from 25 - 30 hours per week, depending on the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing exceptional customer service and assisting customers with their shopping needs

• Within the deli - slicing meats, packaging serviced products and preparing and creating instore food items

• Work safely in accordance with all legislation and supermarket policies and procedures

• Assisting with opening / closing the store

• Maintaining store displays and shelves to ensure a neat and organised retail environment

• Handling cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently

• Collaborating with the team to ensure smooth store operations

• Adhering to health, safety and hygiene standards
  

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in a retail or customer service role, preferably in a grocery or supermarket environment

• Expertise in stock management, merchandising, and maintaining high presentation standards

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and colleagues

• Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• A positive attitude and a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including a shift every weekend, public holidays and shifts that finish at 7.30pm or start at 7.30am

• Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

• Capacity to work well under pressure

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15kg regularly
