About the role
The Fit to Drive Foundation is seeking expressions of interest from people interested in joining our volunteer Board.
We expect to have Director opportunities available ahead of our October 2026 Annual General Meeting, although the final number of vacancies is still being confirmed. We are therefore inviting expressions of interest from people with a broad range of skills, experience and perspectives who are interested in contributing to the future of the Foundation as Board Directors.
We are open to all relevant skill sets and backgrounds, and are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:
Previous Board experience is welcome, but not essential.
More important is a genuine commitment to the Foundation’s purpose and a willingness to actively contribute to the work of the Board and its subcommittees.
Fit to Drive Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing road trauma in young people aged 16 to 25.
Our work focuses on building the capacity of young people to make good decisions when faced with risky situations on our roads, whether as passengers, drivers or other road users.
The Foundation works with partners including Victoria Police, Fire Rescue Victoria, the Transport Accident Commission, local government, education providers and community organisations to engage young people in road safety education.
Further information about the Foundation is available on the Fit to Drive Foundation website.
Fit to Drive Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board with a broad range of skills, experience and perspectives. Board members share a commitment to reducing youth road trauma and supporting the long-term sustainability and impact of the Foundation.
Board members are expected to:
The Board generally meets five times per year, with meetings currently held on Fridays from 7am to 9am, usually online. Additional Board events, planning sessions or stakeholder events may be held from time to time.
The Foundation also has Board subcommittees, with meeting timing and frequency agreed by members based on workload and priorities.
As an organisation working with young people, all Board members are required to hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check. These may be obtained following interview but will be required before commencement.
Expressions of interest will be considered against the following:
We encourage applications from people of all ages, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIQA+ people, and people living in rural and regional Victoria. Adjustments to the recruitment process can be provided on request.
Shortlisting and interviews are expected to take place in early September 2026, with successful candidates to be considered for appointment in connection with the October 2026 Annual General Meeting.
If you have any questions, please contact Board Chair Megan Hannan at megan.hannan@fittodrive.org.au using the subject line: Board Directors (Voluntary) enquiry via EthicalJobs for a confidential discussion.
