About the role
Are you a visionary technology leader ready to shape the future of technology, data and digital capability for Victoria's forest, fire and emergency management operations?
The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking an experienced technology executive to lead the Technology Branch within Bushfire and Forest Services. This critical leadership role will ensure the delivery of reliable, secure and fit-for-purpose technology and data capabilities that support Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic), the Conservation Regulator and emergency management operations across the state.
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Forest and Fire Assets and Resources, the Program Director, Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Technology Branch, driving technology, data and digital capability across Bushfire and Forest Services.
The role is accountable for leading the development and implementation of a contemporary technology strategy, ensuring technology investments align with operational priorities and deliver measurable value across forest, fire and emergency management activities.
As the leader of a specialist technology function, you will oversee technology governance, architecture, AI deployment, program and project delivery, service management, cybersecurity, platform performance and continuous improvement. You will also play a key role in strengthening partnerships across DEECA, emergency management agencies and external stakeholders to support operational outcomes and future capability development.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to strategic direction, innovation, organisational reform and resource prioritisation, helping deliver DEECA's purpose of securing a liveable and prosperous Victoria.

We employ approximately 6,300 staff, including around 600 seasonal staff, across more than 86 locations throughout Victoria, across energy, environment, climate action, water, agriculture, and resources portfolios.
Our challenge is to maintain Victoria's liveability, with a population expected to almost double by 2050, while responding to climate change and protecting our natural environment, infrastructure and heritage for future generations. We take a community-centred approach and involve communities and key stakeholders in decisions and policies that affect them and we collaborate across our portfolios to design and deliver services and programs.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
