Medical Receptionist

About the role

Hurlstone Park Medical Centre is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be the first point of contact for our patients at our Canterbury NSW 2193 location. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive at our practice. Your role will be fundamental to the smooth operation of our medical centre, balancing administrative duties with genuine patient care and support.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting patients warmly and professionally as they arrive at the medical centre

• Registering new patients and updating existing patient records accurately and confidentially

• Managing appointment scheduling and coordinating doctor availability

• Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls appropriately

• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with healthcare privacy regulations

• Performing general administrative tasks, including filing, data entry and correspondence

• Managing waiting areas to ensure a clean, welcoming and organised environment

• Assisting with routine office duties as required to support the medical team

What we're looking for

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patients

• Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Proficiency in using computers

• A friendly, patient and empathetic approach to patient care

• Reliability and flexibility, particularly given the casual nature of this role
