About the role
Multiple Positions Available – Sydney Metro & Western Sydney
Ready to lead a crew, run the day, and take ownership of some of Sydney's biggest sites? AFL is after experienced, switched-on Team Leaders to head up our grounds and landscape maintenance crews across Sydney.
This is a working leadership role — you'll be on the tools with your crew as well as running the day. We're after qualified people who can lead a crew and run a site safely. If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
Leading a small crew day to day — allocating tasks, setting the pace, and keeping works on program
Getting stuck in on the tools with the crew — mowing, edging, mulching, pruning, weed control, irrigation checks, litter and waste removal
Running pre-starts, toolbox talks and SWMS sign-ons — making sure every job starts safe, every day
Owning site quality — checking works meet standard before you leave and keeping clients happy
Managing plant, equipment and materials — set-up, safe operation, maintenance checks and pack-down
Mentoring and training trades assistants and apprentices, and bringing them up to standard
Reporting hazards, near-misses, incidents and equipment faults — and following through
Capturing works-completed records, photos and site notes
Being the point of contact on site and working in with your supervisor / operations manager
A relevant trade qualification — Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent (essential)
Solid experience in grounds or landscape maintenance, with leading-hand or crew leadership experience
The ability to run a crew — organise the day, delegate, and keep people motivated and on task
A genuine safety-first mindset and the confidence to pull someone up when something's not right
A current driver's licence (essential)
Relevant tickets — chemical handling (AQF3 / spraying), chainsaw, plant and machinery — or the willingness to get them fast
Physical fitness — this is a hands-on, outdoors role in all weather
Ability to pass site access / security screening for government and defence sites where required
Full-time, ongoing leadership role with real responsibility and a genuine path to grow
A competitive rate reflecting your experience and tickets
Well-maintained gear, quality plant, and a business that takes safety seriously
Ongoing training, ticket support and career development
A supportive team
