Motor Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team at Malik Automotive in North Geelong, Victoria. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work with a dedicated automotive team, servicing and repairing vehicles to the highest standards. You will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction, whilst ensuring all vehicles meet safety and performance standards.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing vehicle faults using diagnostic equipment and manual inspection techniques

• Performing routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and belt inspections

• Repairing and replacing mechanical components such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems and brakes

• Conducting electrical system repairs and diagnostics

• Servicing air conditioning systems and related components

• Performing wheel alignment and tyre balancing

• Documenting work completed and maintaining accurate service records

• Communicating with customers regarding repair requirements and timescales

• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures

• Maintaining a clean and organised work environment

What we're looking for

• A recognised motor mechanic qualification or equivalent experience demonstrating competency in vehicle maintenance and repair

• Proven experience working as a motor mechanic in an automotive workshop environment

• Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems

• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

• Ability to read and interpret workshop manuals and technical documentation

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers

• A commitment to health and safety standards and best practices

• Reliability and punctuality

• Experience with modern vehicle technology and computerised diagnostic systems is preferred
