• APS Level 5 to Executive Level 2
• $84,834 - $168,445 plus Prosecutor Allowance plus 15.4% superannuation
• Positions may be offered in one of the ten CDPP offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Townsville

The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) - Register of Interest | Legal Prosecutors allows admitted legal professionals to register an interest in prosecutor roles with the CDPP.

The CDPP can engage from this register via:

• Ongoing and Temporary Transfer opportunities under Section 26 of the Public Service Act 1999; or
• Non-Ongoing opportunities for an initial period of up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total period of 18 months.

About the CDPP

The CDPP is Australia’s federal prosecution service established by Parliament to prosecute alleged offences against Commonwealth law, we aim to provide an effective, ethical, high quality and independent criminal prosecution service for the nation in accordance with the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth. 

The CDPP is a small, agile federal government agency that offers a dynamic working environment focused on important legal outcomes.  

There are five litigation practice groups at the CDPP which conduct criminal prosecutions in nominated crime types across Australia. 

Our prosecutors have a diverse range of skills, capabilities and experience sourced from government agencies (Commonwealth or State) employment and/or from the private sector. 

There are three levels of Federal Prosecutors within the CDPP. They are:

1. Federal Prosecutor (APS 5 and APS 6 equivalent)
2. Senior Federal Prosecutor (Executive Level 1 equivalent)
3. Principal Federal Prosecutor (Executive Level 2 equivalent)

In the application form you will be required to indicate your preferred classification. The outline the key capabilities and behaviours required for each classification.

The CDPP Prosecutors are also entitled to an additional allowance as part of their salary package, which varies depending on their level of seniority. Refer to the Determination Prosecutor Allowance for more details.

All employees at the CDPP are required to obtain/maintain a satisfactory police check and a AGSVA Baseline security clearance (higher levels for specific roles). Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
