We are seeking experienced Boilermaker Welders for a major shutdown/project work in regional New South Wales.

About the Role

This project involves:

• Removal of existing wear plates

• Welding and installation of new hard-facing plates

• General structural welding and repair work

• Heavy industrial maintenance activities

Welding processes will primarily include:

• 81Ni Flux Core

• S6 Solid Wire

• Hard-facing applications

You will work 12-hour shifts on a rotating roster basis, alternating between day and night shift swings. Shifts are 14 working days on, with 7 days off.

Pay Rates

• Day Shift: Approximately $125 per hour, plus super.

• Night Shift: Approximately $150 per hour, plus super.

Rates are provided as an indicative consolidated figure and may vary depending on shift arrangements and applicable overtime provisions.

Accommodation and all meals on site will be provided free to you.
Please note: No payment is provided during swing breaks.

Project duration is currently 4 weeks of work, over 6 weeks (2 swings), starting August 2026 with potential for extension of works.

Required Qualifications & Experience

To be considered, applicants must be qualified and experienced Boilermaker Welders capable of passing the following welding tests:

Welding Qualification Tests

2G Plate – 25mm thick

• Side 1: Solid wire root run

• Flux core fill and cap

• Side 2: Back grind

• Flux core fill and cap

3G Plate – 25mm thick

• Side 1: Solid wire root run

• Flux core fill and cap

• Side 2: Back grind

• Flux core fill and cap

4G Plate – 25mm thick

• Side 1: Solid wire root run

• Flux core fill and cap

• Side 2: Back grind

• Flux core fill and cap

4F Fillet Weld – 25mm thick

• 3-run, 2-layer weld

• Solid wire first pass

• Flux core second and third passes

Mandatory Site Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to complete:

• Full pre-employment medical assessment including:

  • Physical examination

  • Hearing test

  • Lung function test

  • Lung X-ray

  • Drug and alcohol screening (chain of custody pathology test)

• National Police Check

• Online company induction

• Project and site inductions

Applicants with current certifications (issued within the last 24 months) are highly desirable:

• Working at Heights

• Confined Space Entry

If you do not currently hold these qualifications, Baker & Provan will arrange training prior to mobilisation.

All associated costs will be covered by Baker & Provan.

Mobilisation options include:

• Drive to Cooma, NSW and park at the designated location, or

• Fly at your own expense to Canberra Airport and travel by bus to Cooma

Once mobilised:

• Bus transport provided to and from site

• Private, self-contained accommodation with own bathroom

• All meals provided while on site

• Main mess facilities for breakfast and dinner

• Take-away meals available for work breaks

• Two paid breaks per 12-hour shift

• Site transport provided
