Our Casey Central store is located within the busy Casey Central Shopping Centre on Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Narre Warren South, in Melbourne's fast-growing south-east. Trading seven days a week, the store serves a steady flow of shoppers, families and local regulars, from hearty breakfasts and lunches through to sweet treats and specialty coffee. We are now looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes across our all day breakfast, lunch and cafe menus, including grills, burgers, salads and desserts, ensuring every plate meets The Coffee Club's brand standards.
• Check the quality, consistency and presentation of all dishes at every stage, from ingredient handling and preparation through to final plating, so that food leaving the pass is always to specification.
• Uphold and enforce strict food safety and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, ensuring all team members understand and follow correct handling, storage, cleaning and sanitation procedures in line with company policy and Victorian food safety requirements.
• Order food supplies and kitchen consumables, receive and check deliveries, manage stock levels and rotation, and liaise with suppliers to maintain freshness and keep wastage to a minimum.
• Assist with planning menus, daily specials and seasonal offerings, and contribute to estimating food and labour costs and managing portion control to support store profitability.
• Communicate regularly with the Store Manager, kitchen team and waiting staff to resolve food preparation issues, coordinate timing during peak trade and respond to customer feedback, including dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Demonstrate cooking techniques to kitchen staff and provide guidance on preparation methods, new menu items and the correct use of kitchen equipment.
• Portion, label, freeze and preserve food items correctly, applying first-in-first-out stock rotation and safe storage practices at all times.
• Assist in selecting new kitchen team members and train, mentor and supervise staff to build their skills, confidence and consistency.
• Manage food preparation for both dine-in and takeaway orders, keeping wait times low during busy breakfast periods and weekend trade in a high-volume shopping centre environment.
• Support the roll-out of national menu updates and promotional campaigns in line with The Coffee Club brand guidelines.
• Keep kitchen equipment, benches, cool rooms and storage areas clean and well maintained, and report any faults or safety hazards promptly.
• Complete food safety records, temperature checks and other kitchen documentation as required.

Experience and Qualifications

• Applicants should have at least 1 year of relevant work experience as a Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
• Applicants must hold an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field such as commercial cookery, hospitality or kitchen management.

What We Offer

• This A full-time position, typically involving 38 hours per week.
• An annual salary of $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation.
