Our team works closely with clients, consultants and subcontractors to deliver well-considered projects with a strong focus on quality, programme and commercial outcomes.As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team and play an important role in securing the next generation of NOTION projects.The RoleAs Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating and tendering process across a range of commercial construction opportunities.Working closely with the Directors and project delivery team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, identifying project risks and opportunities, and helping determine the right projects for NOTION to pursue.
Your responsibilities will include:Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentationPreparing detailed trade scopes, quantity take-offs and cost estimatesIssuing subcontractor and supplier RFQs and managing the tender pricing processAnalysing and levelling subcontractor quotationsPreparing tender submissions, clarifications and qualificationsIdentifying construction risks, opportunities and potential cost-saving alternativesDeveloping preliminary construction budgets and cost plansWorking with Project Managers and Site Managers to review methodology, staging and programme requirementsMaintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and clientsReviewing historical project costs and using this information to improve estimating accuracyAssisting with value management and alternative construction solutionsContributing to tender handovers to the delivery team following successful awardsMaintaining and continually improving NOTION's estimating systems, subcontractor database and cost information
About YouYou will ideally have:Demonstrated estimating experience within the Australian commercial construction industryExperience pricing new builds, refurbishments and/or fitout projectsStrong knowledge of construction methodology, materials, trades and subcontractor procurementExcellent ability to interpret architectural, structural and services documentationStrong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detailConfidence dealing directly with subcontractors and suppliersStrong Excel skills and experience with estimating/take-off softwareThe ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlinesGood written and verbal communication skillsA relevant qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar, although strong practical industry experience will also be highly regardedA sound understanding of Australian construction standards, regulations and the Melbourne subcontractor market
