Director of High Performance

Westgate Basketball is a fast growing basketball associations, with over 4,000 participants across programs ranging from Aussie Hoops and Junior Domestic Competition through to the VJBL and Big V.  We're looking for a Director of High Performance to lead the coaching curriculum, player development strategy and high-performance culture across our Rep program.

This is a leadership position for someone who wants to leave a lasting mark on how Westgate coaches and develops its athletes, mentoring coaches and athletes, driving standards, and instilling the resilience and elite training habits that prepare players for the next level.

What you'll do

• Design, disseminate and update the coaching curriculum across teams, working with the Head of Player and Coach Development and Coach Education and Pathways Manager
• Develop and embed the "Westgate Way" style of play consistently across all teams
• Drive program growth by identifying talent and building a strong pipeline for the future
• Mentor and support representative coaches athletes, attending trainings and games and providing constructive feedback
• Provide individual feedback to players and coaches to keep everyone aligned with high-performance goals
• Foster an environment that supports player well-being on and off the court
• Act as Head of Selection during trials and oversee team selection processes
• Monitor team performance and deliver feedback and reviews to the leadership team, including game-day coverage when needed
• Act as a key escalation point for grievances, upholding Westgate's Code of Conduct and Child Safe Standards
• Represent Westgate Imperials with professionalism as a role model across the Association and broader basketball community

What you'll bring

• Experience as both a player and coach, with a track record of developing athletes and leading successful teams
• A clear vision for performance standards, player development and coaching culture
• Strong mentoring and feedback skills, with the ability to lift both coaching and athlete standards
• A current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) and willingness to complete Basketball Victoria's Member Protection Declaration
• Availability for evenings and weekends during competition periods, and willingness to attend games, trainings and events as required
