Retail Manager – Jet Cycles

Max Sports P/L Jet Cycles is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our retail showroom, service centre, and athlete support services. The successful candidate will combine strong retail leadership capabilities with extensive technical expertise in high-performance bicycles and cycling equipment. This role requires a deep understanding of premium cycling products, technical servicing requirements, customer consultation, inventory management, staff development, and retail operations.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring exceptional customer experiences while maintaining the highest standards of product performance, safety, and technical support. Key Responsibilities Retail Operations Manage the daily operations of the retail showroom and service centre. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

Monitor inventory levels, stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships. Ensure the effective merchandising and presentation of premium cycling products. Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Customer Service and Sales Provide expert consultation and guidance to customers purchasing premium bicycles and equipment. Support customers in selecting appropriate bicycles, components, accessories, and athlete services based on their performance goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, cycling clubs, coaches, event organisers, and sporting federations.

Manage customer enquiries, quotations, and after-sales support. Technical Leadership Provide technical oversight and support regarding high-performance bicycles and components. Assist with complex technical diagnostics, warranty assessments, and customer solutions.

Ensure all bicycles meet performance and safety standards prior to delivery. Maintain extensive knowledge of current bicycle technologies, groupsets, wheels, power meters, suspension systems, and aerodynamic equipment. Team Leadership and Development Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise retail and workshop staff.

Develop product knowledge and technical competency within the team. Conduct performance reviews and implement staff development initiatives. Foster a customer-focused and high-performance culture.

Industry Engagement Maintain knowledge of developments within triathlon, road cycling, gravel racing, and cross-country mountain biking. Support participation in events, product launches, athlete programs, and industry activities. Assist in delivering education and training to staff and customers.

Essential Requirements Minimum  5 years’ experience  in retail management within the cycling industry or a closely related high-performance sporting equipment environment. Minimum  5 years’ experience  in the sales, service, and support of high-performance bicycles and cycling equipment. Demonstrated technical expertise in: Bicycle component compatibility and specification.

Mechanical and electronic groupsets. Wheel systems and power measurement devices. Technical diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Workshop processes and service operations. Strong knowledge of: Triathlon and time trial equipment. Road racing bicycles and equipment.

Gravel racing bicycles and equipment. Cross-country mountain bike equipment. Proven experience managing retail operations, inventory, customer service, and staff.

Strong leadership, communication, and training skills. Ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences within a premium retail environment. Desirable Qualifications Formal qualifications in retail management, business, sports management, or a related discipline.

Bicycle industry technical certifications or recognised mechanical training. Experience working with premium cycling brands and athlete-focused businesses. Experience supporting competitive athletes and performance-driven customers.

Remuneration Base Salary:  $80,000 per annum Superannuation in accordance with Australian legislation. Performance-based bonus structure. Staff purchasing benefits and ongoing professional development opportunities.
