Senior Speech Pathologist - TelePalliative Care

This is a Permanent Part Time appointment at 15.2 hours per fortnight

Position Profile: An opportunity exists for a Senior Speech Pathologist to join our team. This position plans, coordinates, delivers, monitors and evaluates the delivery of timely and culturally appropriate palliative care speech pathology services within a dedicated regional location. This position also undertakes associated supervisory and administrative duties as part of the WA Country Health Services provision.

Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Directorate Overview: The WACHS Palliative Care Program (PCP) is a comprehensive specialist palliative care service in rural and remote Western Australia (WA) and is improving equity of access and end of life choices for country WA. The PCP is dedicated to expanding services in rural and regional WA and providing care closer to home through improving and increasing community based palliative care services, provision of in-home palliative care support, developing and expanding innovative Telehealth services and the delivery of culturally respectful care for Aboriginal people and their families in their place of choice.

Suitability Criteria: Suitability recognises that a range of factors contribute to merit, including skills, knowledge, abilities, behaviours, ethical alignment and relevant operational requirements. The suitability requirements below are derived from the Job Description Form and define what will be assessed to determine your suitability for the role:

1. Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligible for full membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
2. Demonstrated relevant clinical experience, high level of clinical skills and knowledge in a range of Speech Pathology assessment, treatment and evaluation practices.
3. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including information technology, conflict resolution and negotiation.
4. Demonstrated clinical leadership, supervision and governance skills in Speech Pathology services as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Speech Pathology services including the application of quality improvement principles and practices.
6. Experience working in a rural and/or remote setting and an understanding of regional/rural service issues and their potential impact on speech pathology service provision, with particular reference to Aboriginal Health and working in an outreach model.
7. Possession of expertise/experience in palliative care and/or working towards a relevant post graduate qualification.
8. Experience in delivery of virtual, telehealth or remote care. 
9. Demonstrated ability to use computer systems and digital technologies effectively.
