Accountant

A small accounting and consulting firm, based in Melbourne CBD, provides business consultancy, taxation, and accounting services to a diverse range of small to medium businesses. Due to significant growth, we are seeking a professional, motivated, and experienced accountant to join our team to assist in maintaining accurate accounting/bookkeeping records for our clients

About the Role:

You will be responsible the following:

• Preparation of Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns
• Reviewing Xero & excel files processed by our bookkeepers, including general Ledger, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations, towards BAS & ITR preparation
• Supporting payroll administration and ensuring accurate employee payment records
• Prepare and lodge income tax returns, BAS/IAS, and other statutory obligations.
• Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
• Liaise with Clients, ASIC and ATO.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years experience in Financials preparation and Tax (Required)
• Degree in commerce &/ or accountancy
• CA/CPA qualified or working towards it.
• Proficient accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel
• Be highly organised, show initiative, and having a strong sense of urgency and work responsiveness
• Able to deal with high pressure environment
• Experience with Accounting Software including XERO, MYOB, QuickBooks is an advantage
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Working in Melbourne CBD
• Experience in preparation of financial in Xero (Preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and accounting standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
